This is my second time having had the opportunity to work with Sasha Bilida! My time with her is always incredible, she’s such a gem! The fact that our schedules aligned was something of its own.
She travels all over to places like Vancouver, LA, Miami, New York, Rhode Island etc.. Countries such as London, Italy, Thailand, Japan, and Costa Rica have been lucky enough to have her. And she’s just getting started!
I was so impressed by how relaxed and refreshed she was when she walked in. I can honestly say I’ve never seen anyone step off of a 12+ flight and show up gleaming. She knows something I don’t! She must 🙂
I couldn’t help but want to discover more of her world. So we started a conversation as per usual and I asked her a few things. Take note friends! THIS, this is the kind of stuff that makes her what she is. A gem.
What are your top 3 modeling tips?
Don’t compare yourself to others!
When you compare yourself to other models, it’ll get to your head. It’s so important to remind yourself of all the things that make you unique. Then do it daily. No one is better than you, they’re just different. As are you, that’s what makes you special.
Develop Habits to Stay Grounded
Life gets crazy and it can be overwhelming sometimes. You might be away from home but if you can develop a habit that keeps you grounded, you’ll thank yourself later. No one can have you if you can’t have you.
My habit: I hit a gym, find a yoga studio or go for a run. I soak up the fresh air and get back to me.
Take Care of Yourself
Take care of your body. Take care of your mental state. Take care of your emotional state. Check in with family and friends at home, even if it’s a 10-minute phone call. Sometimes that’s all you need to change a bad day into a great one.
What are the Most Memorable Places You’ve Been To?
Tokyo
It changed me. It shaped me. It offered me new experiences that have made me who I am today.
New York
I fell in love with it the second I landed. My stay was only supposed to last 5 days for a Fashion Week I was a part of. That week started and ended but I wasn’t ready to leave. I made one phone call home and told them to pack up the rest of my stuff because this is where I’d be for a while. 6 months later I finally made my way back home.
Thailand
I went to Thailand for my first overseas contract. I thought I knew what I was doing until I realized I didn’t. I learned so much about myself, living on my own, working on my own and doing it all in a foreign country. I grew up fast, I had to.
